Snobs and (bogus) connections

I know all of us have run (once or more) into the same species and some of us encounter them everyday. You'll find these dweebs declaring themselves to be *privileged* members outside any prestigious organization. They're bald old men wearing sickening Ujala-type white shirts. They speak about how many years along the line they are Non resident-(their countrymen) and part of the group (which grants membership once you suck up to the people who matter). The admin is too lazy to strike off names/update the list, therefore making them snobs permanent fixtures at any gathering. Most of them are losers - enough to want to be seen that they give up their schedule of the day to revel in some minutes of much needed "I know you". It's probably due to a much needed feeling of self worth which they seriously lack, be it at home or work. These poor clowns cannot wait for free food. Once they have had their fill, they make life miserable for everyone around.

The particular bore I was unlucky enough to meet and got me shocked enough to start writing, let's call him PH (for p**p-head), is a Chartered Accountant and has his own client-consultancy business. He's a big name-dropper and a shocking self-laud expert. He wants to show off connections in high places and so names some politicians back home. Since he also wants an intelligent reputation, he throws in common issues sourced from Financial Times, AGAIN followed by a heavy unwanted dose of superiority. He blushes(not too becoming) and flirts with local immigration authorities who come for a feedback session. He does not allow focus to divert. He wants to do most of the talking and brushes you aside because he thinks he is the only one who's taken seriously in the room. He disappears in the blink of an eye when you deign to ask for favours(didn't he just say he knew the whole Delhi quartet?)

There are just too many of these saps sprouting out of the woodwork by the dozens. What do you do with them? Pests.
